Why This Exists

This isn't a startup. There's no team, no investors, no roadmap driven by quarterly targets. THEFILESHARE.PLACE is a solo project. Just me, building the tool I wanted but couldn't find.

I have a background in photography and cinematography, so I move large files constantly. I got tired of WeTransfer's limits, Google Drive links that expire or hit quotas, and the general lack of any easy way to password-protect or encrypt what I'm sending. I couldn't saturate my bandwidth, and I'd lose a large upload because my browser crashed or the network timed out.

So I built something that solved those problems for me. Resumable uploads that survive crashes, client-side encryption, password-protected downloads, and transfers that actually use your full connection. I originally built it just for myself, but figured I'd share it. No cookies, no ads, no tracking, no enshittification.

What It Costs to Run

This project costs real money to keep alive. There's no venture capital subsidizing it. Every line item comes out of pocket. Here's what it takes:

I work a full-time job, so all the development and support for this project happen on my nights and weekends. It's a labor of love, not a source of income. When someone donates, it genuinely keeps me going. It's a reminder that the time I'm putting in matters to someone beyond just me, and that makes it a lot easier to keep showing up.
